ISLAMABAD: Australia’s captain Mitchell Marsh is reportedly doubtful for the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series against Pakistan due to an ankle injury, with Josh Inglis emerging as the leading candidate to take over the captaincy.
The three-match ODI series between Pakistan and Australia is scheduled to begin on May 30 in Rawalpindi, followed by matches in Lahore on June 2 and June 4.
According to Australian media reports, Marsh sustained an ankle injury during the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has also been dealing with fatigue after a long season, casting serious doubt over his availability for the tour.
In his potential absence, Josh Inglis is expected to lead the side, especially as regular skipper Pat Cummins and Travis Head are unavailable due to IPL commitments and are not part of the ODI squad.
Meanwhile, there is also speculation that Ollie Peake could make his international debut if Marsh is ruled out of the series.
The ODI series will feature three matches, with the opening game set for Rawalpindi before the action moves to Lahore for the remaining two fixtures.
