KARACHI: In a sensational development in the murder case of young Karachi businessman Mir Raza Ali Khan, the victim’s sister issued an emergency video message late Friday night alleging that police security provided to the family was withdrawn without notice, shortly after which she was followed by suspicious vehicles while returning from a protest sit-in.
In the video message, dated Day 24 – 22nd August, 2026, and captioned `#JusticeForMirRaza Security Update`, the sister said she had no new update on the murder investigation itself, but wanted to flag a serious security concern.

“Our car was followed today,” she said, adding that the family had been provided security by the nearest police station but since yesterday “that police is not here and we called in the morning and complained without any notice security [was withdrawn].”
White V8, Axio Seen Making Suspicious Moves
Narrating the incident, she said that when they were near their street, a vehicle overtook them and then slowed down before making a U-turn, which she found suspicious as the driver could have taken the turn earlier.
“Right when we were like slow a little, that car passed us and went ahead and slowed down and is making a U-turn which was suspicious,” she said in the video, speaking in a mix of English and Urdu.
She said the family then drove to the main road and took multiple U-turns to lose the vehicle.
Meanwhile, her mother called to inform that a white car was parked inside their street. According to her, the car left the lane only after bikers accompanying the family arrived at the spot.
She identified the two vehicles as a white Toyota Land Cruiser V8 and a white Toyota Corolla Axio, stating both were seen acting suspiciously around the family’s street.
The sister added that her father contacted a senior official, after which a police mobile reached the spot within 15 to 20 minutes and was present there at the time of recording the message.
Dawn.com could not independently verify the claims regarding the vehicles. Police officials had not issued a statement on the alleged withdrawal of security till the filing of this report.
Case Background:
The security scare comes amid growing concerns over the investigation into the high-profile murder. Mir Raza Ali Khan, 25, was found dead on July 29. Police initially described the death as a suicide, a version rejected by the family.
A Special Medical Board was later constituted on court orders, the grave was exhumed and a second postmortem confirmed homicide – with a bullet entering from the waist and exiting the chest, along with broken ribs, head injuries and chemical burns on the face.
Following the board’s report, Section 302 (murder) was added to the FIR.
The case has since seen a series of developments, including the surfacing of a 2-hour-17-minute CCTV footage from near the body recovery site showing suspicious motorcycles and a police mobile present for an extended period, the expansion of the investigation committee to nine members, and the retrieval of the victim’s mobile phone and smartwatch from the NCIA to be sent to the Lahore Forensic Lab after the family expressed reservations.
The Sindh High Court Bar Association on Saturday demanded a transparent, impartial and evidence-based probe, seeking removal of DIG East, SSP CIA and SSP East from the investigation and action under Sections 201 and 218 PPC for alleged concealment or mishandling of evidence.
The victim’s father, Mir Hassan, has also demanded that FIA be approached to obtain flight, train and bus travel records from the period surrounding the murder.
