KARACHI: The court-ordered exhumation of 25-year-old entrepreneur and IBA graduate Mir Raza Ali’s grave commenced on Saturday at the PECHS cemetery, marking a critical juncture in the ongoing murder investigation.
The procedure was carried out under the supervision of Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate Karachi East, alongside the newly restored eight-member medical board led by Karachi Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed.
During the exhumation, the specialized team of doctors retrieved essential forensic and tissue samples directly from Mir Raza’s remains.
According to medical board officials, these specialized specimens will be sent immediately to advanced diagnostic laboratories for comprehensive forensic analysis, aim to resolve major discrepancies—including missing X-rays and unexamined wound trajectories—that plagued the initial autopsy report.
In a decisive move to establish indisputable forensic linkages, the medical board also initiated formal DNA collection procedures.
Doctors confirmed that genetic samples will be obtained from both Mir Raza’s father, Mir Hussain Ali, and his mother. These parental profiles will be cross-matched against physical evidence and DNA extracted from the body and the crime scene to verify all physical traces recovered during the probe.
It is pertinent to mention here that the re-autopsy follows weeks of intense contention after the family initially blocked exhumation efforts when authorities abruptly altered the medical board overnight.
With the original panel now fully reinstated and fresh technical evidence—including a recently recovered audio recording detailing financial settlements—formally incorporated into the case file, investigators expect the lab results to provide definitive answers regarding the exact circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s tragic death.
