KARACHI: Actress Mehwish Hayat has backed Turkish drama serial ‘Ertugrul Ghazi’ being aired on state-run television (PTV) in the Urdu language.
The actress took to Twitter and wrote, “I don’t know what the fuss is all abt? At the end of the day lets accept Dirilis #Ertugrul for what it is; an educational drama series which has historical significance & gr8 moral lessons.”

About the lead character Engin Altan Duzyatan who essays the main leading role Ertugrul, Hayat wrote, “I think Engin Altan Düzyatan is pretty hot. A bit like Leonardo Di Caprio no?#crushupdated.”
Turkish drama series, known as Diriliş: Ertuğrul or Ertugrul Ghazi, has become a sensation across the whole of Pakistan. According to the state-run Pakistan Television (PTV), 133.38 million people have so far watched the drama series from April 25th to 14th May. Moreover, its episodes are trending on YouTube in Pakistan every day.
Since the series with Urdu dubbing started riding on the airwaves, PTV’s YouTube channel has registered exponential rise its viewership with 2.1 million subscribers, shattering all previous records.
