RAWALPINDI: The Chief Organizer of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) has expressed harsh criticism towards the Judiciary for applying multiple standards in their handling of civilian premiers vs military dictators.

Addressing hardly a few dozens lawyers in a hall here on Wednesday, Maryam Nawaz alleged that the judiciary only had the power to suppress a democratically elected prime minister.

She alleged that she and her family had been falsely implicated in cases. She praised Justice Waqar Seth, stating that his bravery in convicting a dictator will be remembered throughout Pakistan’s history.

She questioned why the judge had become emotional during the hearing, but not when her father was disqualified as Prime Minister over an expired iqama.
She went on to criticize the judiciary for what she sees as its failure to take action on important issues, such as leaked audio tapes that allegedly revealed corruption among judges.
The PMLN Chief Organizer also accused the judiciary of overstepping its bounds and encroaching on the roles of other branches of government. She argued that if the judiciary wants to engage in politics, it should leave its duties to the elected representatives in the parliament.
