The galaxy far, far away is preparing for a massive return to the cinema as Lucasfilm officially confirms that the main trailer for The Mandalorian & Grogu will debut tomorrow, February 17, 2026.
To prime the audience, a playful 15-second teaser was released today, featuring the fan-favorite Grogu causing chaos with ship controls drawing a gentle “never touch the buttons” scold from Din Djarin interspersed with cinematic flashes of X-wings and R2-D2.
This upcoming trailer is a milestone for the franchise, representing the first Star Wars theatrical event since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
Directed by Jon Favreau and co-written with Dave Filoni, the film is scheduled for a prime summer release on May 22, 2026.
The story sees Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin navigating his new role as a mentor to a “leveled-up” Grogu, who now balances his Jedi training with Mandalorian discipline.
The duo will reportedly team up with New Republic forces, including a high-ranking leader played by sci-fi icon Sigourney Weaver, to hunt down remaining Imperial warlords.
Adding to the spectacle, the production was filmed specifically for IMAX to ensure the transition from streaming to the big screen delivers a significantly enhanced visual experience with taller aspect ratios and state-of-the-art effects.
