Lucky Ali and Mikey McCleary are once again collaborating after three years.
The powerful duo last collaborated in 2020, after 26 years of their ‘Sunoh’ debut. Ali and producer Mikey McCleary released their Indipop debut ‘Sunoh’ 29 years ago and now, more than a decade after their previous album, the duo is back at it.
Rolling Stone India engaged in a conversation with Lucky Ali and Mikey McCleary, ahead of the release of Ali’s latest album, ‘Subah Ke Taare’ where the 65-year-old singer-songwriter returned with a compilation of eight deeply moving songs, said that the songs articulate his desire for the music to strike a chord with listeners, and underlining the individual importance of every track.
Teaming up with his brother-in-law, McCleary, Ali said, “Subah Ke Taare pledges to offer a sincere journey, welcoming listeners into the artist’s introspective and heartfelt musical realm.”
“I.P. [Singh] wrote this beautiful song that Mikey sent to me and I liked it, but it was quite focused on the idea of romantic love,” said Ali over a Zoom call, sitting next to McCleary by adding, “But I wanted it to be about a higher love because the music itself gave you the license to go further. So, it’s not really about individuals, it’s about hope.”
