ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has ordered the authorities concerned to produce PTI leader Shireen Mazari by 11:30pm tonight.
The court issued the order on Saturday after started hearing a petition filed by the daughter of Mazari against her mother arrest.
Chief Minister Punjab Hamza Shehbaz has also ordered to release the arrested PTI leader.
The court reopened after the end of office hours to hear a petition from the PTI against the arrest of Shireen Mazari, who was nabbed near her house in Islamabad earlier in the day by an anti-corruption department team from Dera Ghazi Khan.
The court has also summoned the federal interior secretary, Islamabad IGP, and deputy commissioner.
The instant writ petition has been filed by Mazari’s daughter Emaan Zainab through PTI lawyers under Article 199 of the Constitution which allows a petitioner to move a high court for the enforcement of any of the Fundamental Rights.
The PTI counsels in their petition have pleaded that the court issue an order for the production of Shireen Mazari.
PTI leaders Fawad Chaudhry, Zulfi Bukhari, Farrukh Habib, and others were also at the Islamabad High Court.
After the hearing, PTI’s Fawad Chaudhry said that IHC chief justice had speeded up the justice process which was a welcome step.
He said PTI’s lawyer’s wing had played a key role on Saturday after Mazari’s arrest.
Fawad claimed that Mazari’s arrest was linked to PTI’s planned announcement of a long march on Islamabad.
In response to a question about Hamza Shehbaz Sharif’s order for release of Mazari, Fawad Chaudhry said whether Hamza Shahbaz was a king who could first order the arrest and then the release.
