Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ has been dethroned by Kiran Rao’s directional film ‘Laapataa Ladies’ on Netflix.
‘Laapataa Ladies’, is a social comedy-drama about two brides who accidentally switch places at a train station after their weddings, premiered in theaters on March 1 before arriving on Netflix.
According to Firstpost, the Aamir Khan production has achieved 13.8 million views on the streaming platform. In contrast, the global hit “Animal,” directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, garnered 13.6 million views in its first three weeks on Netflix but fell out of the top 10 in week four.
Starring Sparsh Shrivastava, Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, and Ravi Kishan, ‘Laapataa Ladies’ has been particularly well-received in the UK since its Netflix release.
Meanwhile, ‘Animal’, despite featuring the star power of Ranbir Kapoor, has sparked controversy over its portrayal of harmful behavior. Kapoor defended the film’s themes, stating that the characters were meant to provoke discussion.
