PESHAWAR: The authorities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have decided to change the timings of the government schools due to the latest spell of heat-wave across the province on Tuesday.
According to the notification, classes will be started from 7:30 am till 1:30, whereas, the schedule will be changed to 8:15 am till 2:30 during the winter season.
According to the changes in the timings, seven periods will be held in primary schools, eight in higher education centres and six for intermediate students.
A severe heatwave has hit the KP province making it difficult to travel or work outside at noon hours.
The weather remained hot for the last two days, bringing life to almost a halt as roads and bazaars wore a deserted look during the day because the dwellers opted to stay indoors due to the scorching heat.
The residents faced grave hardships because of electricity load-shedding. More than 8 to 10 hours of load-shedding is being carried out in Peshawar, creating water shortage and other problems.
