Islamabad: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, announced on Wednesday that he would resign from his post if he failed to implement the new price of roti (bread) in the province.
Speaking to the media outside the court in Islamabad, he stated that he had lowered the price of roti and would ensure its implementation; otherwise, he would step down as chief minister.
Gandapur expressed concerns over another experiment by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM-II), emphasizing that the nation could not endure further experimentation, citing the outcomes of PDM-I. He urged for a focus on addressing inflation and the populace’s issues rather than pursuing new plans.
Gandapur added, ‘We introduced the health card in Punjab as well, but it was halted. We have reduced the price of roti, and I will ensure its implementation; otherwise, I will resign.’
Criticizing reliance on social media platforms like TikTok for governance matters, Gandapur urged for serious engagement on national issues. He expressed a willingness to cooperate for the betterment of the nation but emphasized the need for practical solutions over social media rhetoric.
