The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to establish a regulatory force modeled after the police.
A draft bill for the creation of the Regulatory Force has been presented in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. The bill states that the force will be set up to ensure the enforcement of regulatory laws.
The draft mentions that the regulatory force will have its own police station and separate uniforms. The force will oversee violations of 19 laws, including environmental protection, price control, and other regulations.
According to the bill, the regulatory force will take action against violations of the Canal and Drainage Act, Electric City Act, encroachments, food safety, and the Fertilizer Control Act.
The bill also outlines that the head office of the regulatory force will be located in Peshawar, with separate units in each district. New recruitments will be made for the force, or personnel from the police and levies will be included.
Earlier, recruitment process for personnel to secure the central highway of Kurram, Tilli-Parachinar Road, has begun.
According to official sources, the recruitment of police personnel for securing the Tilli-Parachinar Road has started, and the recruitment for the Special Protection Force will be completed by the end of this month.
Sources say the provincial cabinet has approved the recruitments, and the Department of Finance has sanctioned the funds. Under this plan, 399 personnel will be hired on a one-and-a-half-year contract, and the recruitment will be conducted by the Regional Police Officer of Kohat.
