QUETTA: A district and sessions court in Quetta handed over Barrister Hassaan Niazi, focal person on legal affairs and nephew of former prime minister Imran Khan, to Punjab police on one-day transit remand.
Hassaan Niazi was rearrested by local police under section three of Maintenance of Public Order (MPO), hours after getting bail in a an FIR in which he wasn’t even named or mentioned.
On Saturday, Judicial Magistrate III had rejected his five-day physical remand request made by the police and approved the bail of Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan’s focal person and his nephew Hassan Niazi, asking him to submit surety bonds of Rs.100,000.

Earlier on Sunday, there were reports that a team of Lahore police flew to Quetta seeking custody of Hassaan Niazi. Judicial Magistrate Kaleemullah approved one-day transit remand of PTI leader Hassan Niazi.
In its letter, the home department noted the PTI leader was wanted by Lahore Police in FIR No. 388/23. It also directed IG Balochistan to ensure ‘foolproof’ security of Imran Khan’s nephew.
The Quetta police had registered a case against Hassan Khan Niazi for inciting violence and interfering in government affairs.
It may be recalled that on March 20, Barrister Hassan Niazi was arrested by Islamabad Police from outside Judicial Complex, moments after he got bail in cases registered against him happenings took place a day earlier.
