KOBE: The latest study has revealed that placing indoor plants at workplaces might reduce stress among employees.
The research issued from the University of Hyogo in Japan stated that office workers who kept a small plant on their desk had lower levels of anxiety and stress at the end of a four-week period.
The researchers felt that a lot of employees underestimated the respite that plants offer from work-related stress, so they conducted an experiment on workers at an electric company in Japan and observed their changes in stress levels pre- and post-involvement with plants.
The new study scientifically confirms the degree of psychological and physiological impact induced by indoor plants. The changes were prompted in psychological and physiological stress before and after placing a plant on the workers’ desks.
The calming effects calculated during the study showed that anxiety decreased significantly from pre- to post-intervention.
