KARACHI: Executive Engineer of Karachi (KDA) XEN Syed Sami has been accused of the involvement in illegal businesses in Surjani Town.
The contractors have complained that they are issued contracts on a verbal basis and proper documentation has not been granted to them by the authorities.
The engineer along with his team including Kamran Arshad, Nasir Jamal, Mustafa Chand are involved in the case, the contractors added. Massive excavation of the NOC water line is underway in Surjani Town without the issuance of the No Objection Certificate (NOC).
Syed Sami has been posted Surjani Town Sector 5D SR25 posted for several months. His teams is allowed involved in such illegal activities in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
Two days ago, a large water supply line was excavated in Sector Five D-SR 25, allegedly by Mustafa Chand and Nasir Jamal and sub-engineers for the work of an NOC and challan. The contractor said they have paid the challan amount in cash.
As far as the above is concerned, the verbal approval of the officers and staff is sufficient for the NOC while these things are in the knowledge of Axis Sami.
In this regard, when MM News contacted XEN Syed Sami of Surjani Town (TO), he said the project is part of the Green Line Bus project and he showed official documents.
When told that the place where the line was being laid had nothing to do with the Green Line, he insisted that it was part of the mega-project and that he would send a picture of the location. However, he has failed to respond as yet.
