ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the Kashmir issue is an important pillar of our foreign policy.
Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Haq Khudaradiyat called on the foreign minister. The ongoing human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir and the situation in the region were discussed.
On the occasion, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the Kashmir issue is an important pillar of our foreign policy and all Kashmiris have categorically rejected Indian illegal measures. He said that atrocities were being perpetrated on Kashmiris by the Indian occupying forces but Pakistan would continue to support Kashmiris till their right to self-determination was achieved.
Last week, Pakistan rejected an illegal amendment by India to land ownership laws in occupied Kashmir. Foreign Office spokesman Zahid Hafeez had said that India’s change in land ownership laws in Kashmir was reprehensible.
He said that the change in land ownership laws was also a violation of bilateral agreements between Pakistan and India. The Kashmir issue is an internationally recognized dispute under international law.
According to the spokesperson, the Indian measures of 5th August 2019 and changes in the domicile law are aimed at changing the demographic structure of Kashmir. The change in the demographic structure of Kashmir is aimed at turning Kashmiris into a minority on their own soil, he added.
