Street crime in Karachi continues to take lives, with the latest victim being a 70-year-old man. Identified as Hamid Ali, he suffered severe injuries inflicted by dacoits who shot him in Shadman Town.
According to Ali’s brother, onlookers refused to help the bleeding man until a rickshaw driver took him to the hospital. However, Ali succumbed to his wounds and did not survive.
Retired from a security company, Ali was involved in catering and construction, residing in North Karachi with his four children. His tragic demise adds to the grim toll of street crime in Karachi, where at least 51 individuals have lost their lives since the year’s onset.
In response to escalating crime, Karachi’s citizens and traders took to the streets in protest, staging demonstrations at the Super Highway. The resulting road blockade caused significant traffic congestion, reflecting widespread concern over the city’s safety.
Furthermore, the MQM-P, an ally of the Shehbaz Sharif government, has threatened to withdraw support due to the government’s failure to address street crime effectively. This underscores the urgency of addressing Karachi’s crime epidemic to ensure the safety and security of its residents.
