A man in Karachi died after attempting suicide through self-immolation along with his three young children on Wednesday.
Three children are currently battling for survival in the hospital after a harrowing incident unfolded at Afroza Auckland ground in Sector 54C, North Karachi. Arif, a 40-year-old man, ignited himself and his children in the tragic event.
The children, identified as Hooria (5), Imaan Fatima (4), and Ghulam Hussain (3), suffered severe burns in the ordeal. They were swiftly transported to the burns ward at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in an Edhi Ambulance, where Arif was pronounced dead. Meanwhile, his children remain in critical condition, fighting for their lives.
Authorities have reported that all three children are in critical condition, while initial investigations suggest that Arif, a fruit vendor by profession, set himself and his children on fire. However, the motive behind this horrific act remains undisclosed.
A stepson of Arif informed the police that the family had shared a meal together shortly before the tragic incident. He also disclosed that the mother of the three children had tragically passed away eight months prior to the event.
