KARACHI: Authorities in Karachi have launched a large-scale crackdown against illegal cattle markets across multiple districts, following special directives from Commissioner Karachi Syed Hasan Naqvi.

According to officials, the operation in Karachi was carried out in coordination with district administrations and police, resulting in the arrest of several individuals and the registration of FIRs against those involved in setting up unauthorized livestock markets.

The Commissioner stated that illegal cattle markets in Karachi are causing serious sanitation issues and contributing to heavy traffic congestion, creating difficulties for residents across the city.

Deputy Commissioners along with law enforcement agencies have intensified operations to dismantle such setups. In Shah Faisal Colony, individuals involved in establishing an illegal market were arrested and legal action was initiated.

In another development in Karachi, Deputy Commissioner Central Taha Saleem once again dismantled a cattle market near Pyala Hotel. Officials said the site had already been cleared twice before, but vendors had resumed illegal activity, prompting the deployment of permanent staff to prevent re-establishment.

Several other illegal markets were also removed in Karachi Central, including those near Saba Cinema, Essa Nagri, and Sango Lane.

Further operations in Korangi, led by Deputy Commissioner Masood Bhutto, resulted in the removal of illegal markets from multiple locations including Makhdoom Society, Korangi No. 5 near the bridge, Nasir Jump, New Town PS area, 16000 Road Chakar Goth, Punjab Ground Shah Faisal, and Rita Plot Shah Faisal.

In Karachi Keamari, Deputy Commissioner Amir Fraz Awaisi supervised the removal of a large illegal cattle market at Mauripur Truck Stand. Officials said the market had occupied a large area, severely disrupting traffic flow on routes leading to Hawks Bay and causing significant inconvenience to commuters.

Authorities in Karachi have confirmed that the citywide crackdown against illegal cattle markets will continue until all unauthorized setups are completely removed.
