KARACHI: A tea stall owner demonstrated bravery and quick thinking by foiling a robbery attempt in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal neighborhood, highlighting how courage and presence of mind can avert dangerous situations. The incident, which occurred on February 24, gained widespread attention after a video of the event circulated on social media platforms.
The owner, identified as Daulat Agha, was captured on video preparing to defend himself as three robbers approached his establishment on a motorcycle. Two of the assailants brandished firearms while concealing their identities.
In the video, customers can be seen taking cover beneath tables as tension escalated with guns drawn on both sides. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Following the incident, law enforcement authorities announced the arrest of one suspect, and a formal complaint was filed. Agha recounted the event to Aaj News, revealing that he remained vigilant as one of the robbers kept watch while the others attempted to carry out the robbery.
Asserting his readiness, Agha confronted the criminals, warning them against further action. Displaying a loaded gun, he compelled them to abandon their plans. Ultimately, the robbers retreated, avoiding any violence.
The incident underscores the rising trend of street crimes in Karachi. According to Inspector General of Police Riffat Mukhtar, armed robbers claimed the lives of 23 individuals in the city during January and February. This alarming statistic highlights the pressing need for enhanced security measures to safeguard citizens against such threats.
