Karachi is preparing for a sharp drop in temperatures as strong Siberian winds are set to sweep through the city starting tomorrow, with a forecast of colder and dry weather.
According to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz, the winds will pick up speed from December 24 and 25, blowing at a speed of 25 to 35 kilometers per hour. This will intensify the chill across Karachi, particularly during the night, leading to a significant dip in temperatures.
Sardar Sarfaraz warned that the intensity of the cold would be more pronounced due to the Siberian winds. During this period, the city’s daytime temperature is expected to hover around 25°C, while the nighttime temperature could dip to between 9°C and 11°C. Karachi has already experienced a noticeable drop in temperature over the past few days, with the mercury falling into single digits during the early mornings and nights.
The city’s weather has been characterized by cold and dry conditions throughout December, with the current temperature recorded at 13°C. The Meteorological Department predicts that today’s minimum temperature will be between 9°C and 11°C, with the maximum temperature reaching up to 26°C.
The northeast winds currently blowing at a speed of 6 kilometers per hour have added to the city’s cold conditions, with humidity levels at 48%. Karachi residents have already started feeling the chill, especially with the ongoing weather patterns. As temperatures continue to dip, the city is bracing for even colder conditions in the coming days.
