ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan today (Saturday) has directed the concerned authorities for uninterrupted disbursement of loans under the Kamyab Jawan programme.
The development came while chairing a review session for Kamyab Jawan programme, which was launched last year for the socio-economic development of the youth in the country.
The session was attended by PM’s aide on Youth Affairs Usman Dar, Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, SBP governor, Abdul Razak Dawood, presidents and heads of different banks.
On the occasion, Special Assistant on Youth Affairs Muhammad Usman Dar informed the session regarding the disbursement of loans under the programme. “We have allocated Rs100 billion funds for facilitating the youth to run their businesses,” he added.
Usman Dar further informed that almost 470,000 applications have been received so far and loans are being provided after verification. “The loan disbursement process is continued on merit and in a transparent manner after timely scrutiny of the application,” he clarified.
The Special Assistant also said that educated youth were submitting their applications in banks for getting the benefit of the scheme. “Nearly 21 banks are participating in the Kamyab Jawan programme,” he added.
PM Imran expressed satisfaction over the transparency and mechanism of the loan disbursement programme to youth. He then directed the economic team for ensuring the uninterrupted disbursement of loans.
The Prime Minister assured that the government will ensure that problems faced by the banks are resolved on a priority basis. The meeting decided to set up a high-level steering committee under the chairmanship of Deputy Governor of State Bank to ensure uninterrupted disbursement of loans and success of the scheme.
The premier informed that the youth could play an important role in stabilising the national economy. “The government is prioritising their assistance in construction, industries and information technology sectors,” he concluded.
