“Words are few, the grief is great,” Maryam Nawaz said, adding that the Punjab government would not leave the grieving families alone. She acknowledged the “heartbreaking tragedy” of the separation of the “little flowers” and reiterated that the authorities would remain by the families at every step.
Maryam Nawaz announced that financial assistance would be provided to the heirs of each child who died, while the injured would also receive support. Relief checks were handed over to the affected families on the spot, including Rs. 2 million for the heirs of each deceased child and Rs. 5 million for the injured.
She also directed the concerned authorities to ensure the best available medical facilities for the injured, and said that while no amount of money could heal the tears of grieving mothers, the government would help the families in every possible way.
