SEOUL: BTS, a popular Korean Pop band has been named the Entertainer of the Year by Time Magazine.
Time magazine writer Raisa Bruner wrote in a profile of the group that, “BTS is not just the biggest K-pop act on the charts. They have become the biggest band in the world,” she said by adding that the band did it in a year defined by setbacks, one in which the world hit pause and everyone struggled to maintain their connections.
The South Korean band’s first English-language song “Dynamite”, topped at no # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and got BTS its first Grammy Award nomination last month. Moreover, they have been nominated for seven American Music Awards, all of which they’ve won; four Billboard Music Awards, which they also won consecutively.

In addition, the members of BTS, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook had huge financial success, after a chart-topping initial public offering by their agency Big Hit Entertainment, each became multimillionaires this year. BTS made its debut in 2013 and now has become the world’s most popular artist group.
