Justice Gulzar Ahmed appointed as Chief Justice of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Justice Gulzar Ahmad has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
Justice Gulzar will take charge as the new chief justice of Pakistan from 21st December 2019 after the retirement of the existing CJP Asif Saeed Khosa.

The law ministry has issued the notification for the appointment of Justice Gulzar Ahmad as Chief Justice after seeking approval from President Arif Alvi.
He is the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court after the incumbent Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa.
Justice Gulzar will remain as CJP till February 01, 2022. He was sworn in as SHC judge on 27th August 2002 and became the Supreme Court’s Judge on 16th November 2011.

He has been part of benches deciding high-profile cases and had authored many landmark judgments Justice Gulzar was part of the bench which heard the famous Panama case and disqualified the ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif in a historic judgment.
