Camille Vasquez, the lawyer who represented Hollywood star Johnny Depp in his defamation trial against Amber Heard, has just been promoted to partner at her law firm.
Camille Vasquez has been promoted to partner at her law firm, Brown Rudnick, the firm announced yesterday. “Historically, we have reserved this announcement for the end of our fiscal year. But Camille’s performance during the Johnny Depp trial proved to the world that she was ready to take this next step now,” William Baldiga, the chairman and CEO of Brown Rudnick, said in a press release.
Vasquez distinguished herself in the trial with her questioning style — sometimes reserved, sometimes aggressive. She guided Depp through his testimony over several days on the witness stand in the Fairfax, Virginia, courthouse.
With Heard on the stand in the trial’s final days, Vasquez repeatedly hammered her with questions suggesting she was a liar and had invented scenarios in which she alleged Depp assaulted her. And in closing arguments, Vasquez suggested Heard perjured herself and told jurors to disbelieve her.

The scenes went viral on TikTok and Twitter, where Vasquez gained a fan following. Her approach ultimately worked on the jury, too, which arrived at a verdict that heavily favored Depp. Vasquez, who is based in California, worked alongside Benjamin Chew, a partner at Brown Rudnick’s Washington, DC, office.
Moreover, Johnny Depp marked his debut on TikTok (where he already has 4.3 million followers and counting) with a video montage of his recent music tour in the United Kingdom with Jeff Beck.
The actor also sent a message on social media to his “most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters” following his trial win against Amber Heard earlier this month.
