Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston, who played the iconic character of Rachel Green’s role on Friends, has announced to skip the 2021 Emmy Awards due to the rising number of Delta variant cases in the United States.
The 52-year actress, who is nominated for the Friends reunion special, will skip the awards shows for her safety. She revealed the heartbreaking news in Jimmy Kimmel’s late night talk show.
“No, I will not be going,” she said, adding that director Ben Winston will be accepting her award if she wins the nomination. “This is a big step for me to just be here. Just baby steps,” she said.
She further said that she has been mostly spending her time at home due to the pandemic and has only been going out to film the second season of The Morning Show, and visit friends Jason Bateman and Courteney Cox or to do press.

While talking about me Too moment and the Morning Show, Aniston said the show’s writers scripted nuanced conversations about sensitive issues and whether anyone can return from being “cancelled” by a scandal.
“They really address the grey area,” Aniston said. “They allow the characters to say the things that are said behind closed doors that they wouldn’t dare ever say out loud. And I think it leads to really good conversations.”
