Jason Momoa is set to take on the role of Lobo, the interstellar bounty hunter, in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
According to different media reports, known for his long-standing presence in the DC universe as Aquaman, Momoa’s portrayal of the Atlantean king spanned four films over seven years, starting with his cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
While the first Aquaman movie rejuvenated hope among DC fans with its box-office success, the sequel failed to leave a mark, garnering mixed reviews and a 33% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Momoa confirmed his new role through social media, posting, “They called,” alongside an excerpt from an interview where he expressed his eagerness to play Lobo if offered the part.
James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, has been vocal about reshaping the DC cinematic universe to better compete with other franchises. Recently, the trailer for Superman: Legacy was released, featuring David Corenswet as the titular hero, with a tone that seems more faithful to the comics compared to previous iterations.
The Supergirl mantle will now be carried by Milly Alcock, with the film expected to hit theaters in 2026. Fans eagerly await how Momoa brings Lobo to life, adding another dimension to DC’s evolving cinematic universe.
