It’s true that senior actors promote nepotism: Saba Bukhari

Actress Saba Bukhari, who shed light on her experience with the casting couch, has claimed that senior actors only promote nepotism and discourage newcomers.

In a recent interview with BBC Urdu, the Dil Na Umeed Tou Nahi actress opened up about her difficult experiences in the industry, saying, “Sometimes senior actors also give tough time to newcomers.”

Recalling her encounter with a senior actor, Bukhari said that a senior actress was sitting beside her while they were waiting for the next scene and she said, I don’t understand how people can act with such mediocre face.” 

Bukhari further said, “Some senior actors have also advised me to leave the acting profession altogether.” She further said, “They say that there is no nepotism in the industry, this is not true at all,” said Saba by adding, “These senior actors and their family members are in the field and they promote their children and show their work. This is what my son/daughter is doing or have done.”

Saba Bukhari recently revealed the darkest side of showbiz by disclosing her experience with the casting couch.  In a post shared on her Instagram with a picture, the Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahi actress wrote about the advice she got from different ‘men’ and ‘directors’ in the industry during her struggling period as an actress.

“He said that: Tum may itna confidence toh hai nahi k tum is media may agay ja sako (You don’t have enough confidence to go forward in the media industry)”, she wrote in the caption by continuing, “He said that: Masla yeh hai tum good girl ho or is field may good girl nahi chalti (Problem is you are a good girl and in this field being a good girl doesn’t help).”
