ROME: Italy has imposed new restrictions across the country in order to curb coronavirus.
According to details, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said that the measures were needed to avoid a new lockdown. “We cannot waste time; we must put in place measures to avoid a generalised lockdown, which could severely compromise the economy. The government is here but everyone has to do their part,” he said.
Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte also urged people to wear masks and maintain social distancing in public places saying that maximum precautions are required.
Several public areas will be closed and the mayor of each city will decide the opening and closing time of restaurants. The moves came as Italy reported record 11,705 new cases in 24 hours, its highest daily infection rate for the second day in a row.

Italy was the European country’s hardest-hit at the beginning of the pandemic. It has now recorded 414,000 confirmed coronavirus cases. Its 36,500 deaths place it second to only the UK in Europe.
Several countries are experiencing a second wave of the coronavirus. The Netherlands has imposed a partial lockdown. France also imposed a month-long curfew in the country including in order to curb coronavirus.
