ISLAMABAD: Amid global attention on landmark US-Iran peace negotiations, Islamabad’s Traffic Police have expanded the Red Zone across key federal areas, closing major arteries including Srinagar Highway, Jinnah Avenue, and Margalla Road.

The move, aimed at ensuring security during high-level diplomatic activity, has shuttered offices and markets in the Extended Red Zone — signaling heightened precautions as regional tensions simmer.

“This is not a routine closure — it’s a calibrated response to extraordinary diplomatic momentum,” said an ITP spokesperson, urging commuters to avoid the affected zones and plan alternate routes.

While no official link has been confirmed between the talks and Islamabad’s security measures, analysts note the timing is significant as Pakistan navigates its role as a regional mediator. Travelers are advised to check real-time updates before heading out.
