Islamabad is set to introduce its first theme park, along with a Ferris wheel and cable car service, following approval of major development proposals by the Departmental Working Party (DWP).
The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Interior Secretary Mohammad Khurram Agha, with Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa and other senior officials in attendance.
The planned theme park will feature pedestrian walkways, cycling tracks, and eco-friendly infrastructure, aiming to position Islamabad as a leading tourist and recreational destination.
The DWP approved funding for feasibility studies and detailed design work for each project: Rs206 million for the theme park, Rs61.8 million for the Ferris wheel, and Rs197.76 million for the cable car. These initiatives mark a significant step toward expanding leisure and entertainment facilities in the capital.
Officials highlighted Islamabad’s growing population of over two million and the increasing demand for quality recreational spaces. With the city already a popular tourist hub, these projects are expected to attract both local and international visitors.
