ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police have been put on alert as the Supreme Court of Pakistan is all set to hear a crucial case regarding the delay in elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday, April 3rd. The 3-judges bench, headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial, will conduct the hearing.

According to reports from multiple sources, the development came after apprehensions that anti-election forces might attempt to create a law and order situation as the hearing moved forward towards its logical conclusion.
As a result, all personnel of the Islamabad Police have been directed to report to their respective police stations, and the Station House Officers (SHOs) have been instructed to remain in their respective areas, with permission needed from the DIG before leaving for any essential work.

In anticipation of any possible disturbances, the police stations will be equipped with Biometric Machines, which will be connected to CCTV cameras, allowing them to be monitored round the clock from the Police Line Headquarters.
The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has decided to mobilize political forces and lawyers’ fraternity to ‘protect the constitution and judiciary’. This move underscores the importance of the hearing and the potential consequences of any disturbances that may arise.

It is believed that the situation remains tense as the hearing approaches, with the ruling coalition partner already announced not to accept any verdict by the 3-judges bench. Authorities are believed to have taken every precaution to maintain law and order in the capital city.
