Authorities in Islamabad have sealed a petrol station in the capital’s I-9 sector after a customer alleged that significantly more fuel had been dispensed than the capacity of the vehicle’s fuel tank.
The station’s manager was also arrested and fined.
According to officials, the customer claimed that 61 litres of petrol had been pumped into a vehicle with a 50-litre fuel tank.
Following the complaint, the Assistant Commissioner (Industrial Area) dispatched a magistrate to the site to investigate the allegation.
Officials said the complaint was found to be valid after an on-site inspection, prompting action against the petrol station. The station was sealed, the manager taken into custody, and a financial penalty imposed.
The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad has instructed officials to respond promptly to public complaints to help safeguard consumers’ rights.
