Apparently President Donald Trump wants a new US currency note with his picture on it..!
Members of the Trump administration have reportedly pressured the U.S. currency-printing authority to design a new $250 banknote featuring President Donald Trump’s image, according to The Washington Post.
The paper, citing four current and former employees of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, said that such a move would mark the first time in more than 150 years that the portrait of a living person appears on U.S. currency.
The report claims that since last year, two Treasury Department officials, Brandon Beach and his senior adviser Mike Brown, have repeatedly urged Bureau staff to prepare design samples for the proposed note.
Employees at the agency have expressed concerns over the effort, noting that under current federal law, only deceased individuals are permitted to appear on U.S. currency.
In this regard, Brandon Beach reportedly provided design drafts to staff in August and September, including one sketch showing President Trump’s portrait in the center of a $250 bill, along with the signatures of the president and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
The design’s creator, British artist Aidan Alexander, told The Washington Post that he personally discussed the proposal with President Trump.
According to Alexander, Trump supported several modifications to the original design, including the addition of the colors of the U.S. flag and a logo marking the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.
