Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has stated that the performance of government institutions in the city is being deliberately undermined, and several elements are causing harm to the public interest by occupying land.
He strongly criticized the National Bank for its occupation of 11,000 square yards of land in Shah Rasool Colony and questioned why no action has been taken regarding the National Bank despite the ongoing efforts to eliminate occupations.
Murtaza Wahab clarified that strict measures against illegal constructions on city lands will continue. Under court orders, constructions on Nasla Tower, Gujjar Nullah, and Orangi Nullah have been demolished, but the National Bank’s occupation remains intact.
On the other hand, the National Bank of Pakistan has approved a significant increase in the salary and benefits of its President and Chief Executive, Rehmat Ali Hasni. Under the new package, his total monthly salary will be 9 million rupees, along with an additional 1 million rupees monthly as house rent allowance and performance bonus.
Other benefits include a new 2800 cc vehicle, two drivers, domestic staff, 24-hour security guards, complete medical coverage, and memberships to various clubs. Additionally, life insurance, annual vacations, and special facilities upon contract termination are also part of the package.
Murtaza Wahab expressed his commitment to continue serving the people of Karachi, while the hefty benefits of the National Bank’s president have become a topic of discussion among the public.
