Pakistan has witnessed a rise in COVID-19 cases in recent weeks, particularly in major cities like Karachi, the media reported on Sunday.
As per the reports, approximately 25 to 30 out of every 100 individuals experiencing symptoms like cough and cold are testing positive for the virus in Karachi.
In response, health officials in Sindh have urged hospitals and clinics to remain vigilant and closely monitor for signs of the virus to prevent further spread.
In a notable development, President Asif Ali Zardari was recently diagnosed with Covid -19. His personal physician, Dr. Asim Hussain, confirmed the diagnosis after a series of tests, advising the President to isolate himself.
Despite this uptick in cases, the National Institute of Health (NIH) has reassured the public that the situation remains under control. Dr. Mumtaz Khan, a senior official from NIH, mentioned that many of the reported cases could be related to viral infections rather than a major COVID-19 outbreak.
Nonetheless, health experts are urging the public to remain cautious, adhere to SOPs, wear masks, avoid large crowds, and get vaccinated if they haven’t already.
