ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to allow international flights at eight airports across Pakistan in order to bring back Pakistanis stranded abroad.
According to a letter written to provincial chief secretaries and commissioner Islamabad, the federal government intends to open international flights at Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Faisalabad, and Multan from April 5 to facilitate stranded Pakistanis.
In this regard, the federal government also directed NDMA to ensure provision of medical facilities across Pakistan to quarantine suspected patients coming to the country.
The letter further stated that it was also decided that all the passengers arriving in Pakistan will be screened and the suspected patients will be shifted to hotels now turned quarantine centre.
The letter also stated that respective districts and health administrations will be responsible for transportation of suspected cases to quarantine centre and provision of medical facilities.
The letter also urged the concerned provincial and Islamabad officials to make arrangements for all facilities.
It is worth mentioning here that in view of recent spike in number of coronavirus cases in the UK and Canada, the government on Thursday withdrew the special permission to PIA to operate to these territories.
