ISLAMABAD: The investigation regarding alleged misappropriation of food rations for Adiala jail inmates has not completed even after a lapse of one and a half years.
According to details, the case was registered at Rawalpindi’s district office. Relevant sources have revealed that due to the influence of the accused persons the investigation has been halted.
Earlier on October 22, 2018, a corruption scandal had surfaced pertaining to theft of grocery items provisioned for inmates of Adiala jail.
A senior clerk at the prison, Javed Iqbal claimed that storekeeper Ahmed Hassan and jail superintendent Mansoor Akbar were stealing the rice, sugar, cooking oil, and tea among other food items from the official ration for inmates.
He also claimed that a red-color pickup is seen taking the mentioned food items under the guise of sacks of ‘left-over bread’ to nearby storage of contractor Raja Mazhar.
He also claimed that both of the accused persons have made millions by stealing from the official ration for inmates and are maintaining a lavish lifestyle.
