Whenever the incidents of child abuse are mentioned across the country, memories of Zainab, a 6-year-old girl from Kasur, whose father raised his voice to get justice for his daughter, become fresh in our minds.
This innocent girl named Zainab was raped and killed, but Zainab was neither the first nor the last girl to suffer such incidents, because unfortunately, such incidents have been going on for a long time in our country, and have not ended until now.
A 10-year-old girl drowned in a swimming pool in the Manawa area of Lahore. She was dead on arrival at the hospital. The parents alleged that the girl was murdered after being raped. A protest was also held by placing the body of the girl on the ring road.
It is noteworthy that the cases of rape of children and girls are increasing in Pakistan. Economic problems lead to crime, but child abuse is not a crime that can be linked to financial problems.
Although the media’s uproar is a different matter, the innocent girls who were raped and killed by strangulation or with a sharp instrument, shouldn’t their parents or relatives also protest? And if the media conveys his words to those in power, is it a crime?
Another disturbing thing is that the cases of children whose cases are brought to the public through the media also take months to get justice and sometimes even after years there is no decision in the case.
At the beginning of this month, a hearing-impaired girl was also raped in Lahore. Last month in Peshawar, the accused who killed the girls after the rape was also arrested, who confessed to the crime.
IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Moazzam Jah said that the accused is in the grip of law, we arrested him from Cantt Division. The serial killer tried to kill 3 girls after raping them, out of which 2 died.
Police and other law enforcement agencies are doing their job to prevent other crimes including rape and murder. There is a need for the society to abandon its outdated traditions, unnecessary shyness and avoidance of reporting crimes and ensure the prevention of crimes.
