Several main roads in Karachi faced severe flooding after heavy rain on Sunday night, causing severe traffic jams in various parts of the city.
The heavy rainfall submerged major areas, including Shahrah-e-Faisal Road, Old City area, Drigh Road, NIPA flyover, Natha Khan, I.I. Chandragir Road, Sadar, Burns Road, and other locations, with footpaths also affected.
The impact of the rain extended to residential areas such as New Karachi, Nagan Chowrangi, Golimar, and Garden, leading citizens to halt vehicles and motorcycles in affected areas. Distressed citizens in Nazimabad, Liaquatabad, and New Karachi faced challenges as numerous vehicles and motorcycles were submerged, and authorities were slow to respond.
The Green Line track in North Nazimabad was underwater, and key areas like Saddar, II Chand Regar Road, Sindh Assembly, and Governor House experienced flooding. Rainwater entered the departments of Civil Hospital and the gynecological ward of Jinnah Hospital.
Malir, Gadap Town, Sohrab Goth, Gulshan Miamar , Jail Chowrangi, Mangho Pir, Orangi Town, Federal-B Area, and Old City Area were also submerged, leading to damage to numerous feeders and PMTs of K Electric and widespread power outages.
Meteorological reports indicated significant rainfall, with 64 mm in Malir, 52 mm in Quaidabad, 33.6 mm in North Karachi, 29.8 mm in University Road, and 23 mm in Nazimabad. The aftermath included waterlogged areas and damage to infrastructure, with the possibility of intermittent rain forecasted for the city.

Tragically, a young man lost his life due to electrocution in the Lines Area of Karachi, and two individuals were injured as a building roof collapsed near Guru Mandir. Additionally, two people sustained injuries when the wall of Kashmir Road Pak China Park collapsed in Karachi.
