ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that if the government wanted, Imran Khan would have been behind bars for the cypher issue.
While giving an interview with foreign media, Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the government has nothing to do with the arrest of Chairman PTI Imran Khan. “If you wanted to take political revenge, you would not have waited 14 months. Imran Khan put the reputation of the country at stake,” he said.
He said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case. It has never happened in the history of Pakistan that physical remand but the accused got such a big relief. The Islamabad High Court granted bail to Imran Khan in all cases together.
Aurangzeb said that the entire leadership of PTI was inciting people to violence and was monitoring vandalism and house burning. “The government showed wisdom and restraint. Imran Khan is not ready to answer any case against him. If the government wanted to deal with the issue of cipher, Khan would have been behind bars,” she said.
The information minister said that Imran Khan wants the elections to be held at the time of his choice. “Elections will be held when we complete our constitutional term,” she said.
