The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former prime minister Imran Khan was reportedly taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) in Islamabad on Monday for a follow-up eye treatment.

According to a hospital statement, the PTI founder received his fifth anti-VEGF intravitreal injection as part of ongoing treatment for right central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO), an eye condition that was first diagnosed in January.

Hospital officials said ophthalmologists examined him before the procedure and found him clinically stable. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) scans showed improvement in his condition.

The statement added that the injection was administered in the operating theatre under microscopic guidance after informed consent was obtained and all standard medical protocols and precautionary measures were followed.

Imran remained stable before, during, and after the procedure and was later discharged with instructions for further care and follow-up treatment.

His previous anti-VEGF injection was administered on April 28. Earlier doses were given on January 24, February 24, and March 23.
