Pakistan’s world-renowned singer Atif Aslam, who enjoys a massive fan following of over 11 million on social media, has opened up about his journey to stardom, saying he still does not understand how he became so successful.
Known for his passionate and soulful renditions in songs like ‘Aadat’, ‘Kuch Is Tarah’, ‘Bakhuda’ and ‘Dil Diyan Gallan’, Atif Aslam is widely admired for his powerful vocals and his effortless ability to hit high notes.
In a recent interview with a leading Indian YouTube channel, the singer spoke candidly about his fame, his success and whether he ever thought about quitting music.
Reflecting on his rise, Atif Aslam said, “I didn’t know anything, I had no idea how I became successful. Till today, I don’t know how all this happened. After one song you think, well, what next? And after the second song you think that’s it, maybe people won’t like me anymore, but after an album the situation becomes difficult because a sense of responsibility arises.”
He added that while many people attribute his success to hard work, he sees it differently. “There was no extraordinary hard work as such. Allah takes you where He wants to see you. Fame and success are all in His hands,” he said.
Addressing rumours about quitting music, Atif Aslam clarified that he has never seriously considered leaving singing. “I have never thought about quitting music or quitting singing,” he said, adding that creative blocks are a natural part of an artist’s life.
“Sometimes creative stagnation comes and I believe that this is also necessary for an artist. There comes a time when you feel empty. As an artist you have to go through a phase where you face creative stagnation, you are not able to write anything, but then there comes a time when you feel that the cup is full. You sit quietly, thank Allah and enjoy this state,” he concluded.
