KARACHI: Pakistan recorded a notable rise in foreign remittances during July 2026, with inflows increasing by 5 percent on a monthly basis and 13 percent year‑on‑year, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan.

Overseas Pakistanis sent $3.63 billion in July 2026, up from $3.47 billion in June 2026 and significantly higher than the $3.21 billion received in July 2025. The steady growth underscores the critical role remittances play in stabilizing the country’s external account and easing pressure on foreign exchange reserves.

Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of inflows, contributing $914 million in July, reflecting a 10 percent increase over June and 11 percent higher compared to the same month last year.

The United Kingdom accounted for $555 million, while the United States contributed $317 million.

Remittances from Australia and other AU countries stood at $462 million, whereas inflows from the UAE were reported at $737 million in June 2026, showing the Gulf’s continued importance as a remittance hub.

Economists note that the rise in remittances is more than a statistical gain; it is a vital lifeline for Pakistan’s economy, providing much‑needed foreign currency to finance imports, service external debt, and support the rupee. With the country facing persistent challenges in its balance of payments, the consistent inflows from overseas workers remain a cornerstone of economic resilience.

This draft emphasizes both the numerical growth and the economic importance of remittances, aligning with your request to highlight their significance for Pakistan.
