LAHORE: A senior officer of Lahore’s water and sanitation agency was gunned down by his wife over domestic dispute in Johar Town of Lahore.
According to sources, the deceased man, Shahid Hafeez, Deputy Director Revenue in Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) of Lahore, had a heated argument with his wife at his home over some domestic issue. As a result, his wife got infuriated and she shot her husband multiple times which resulted in his on-the-spot death.
The woman identified as Shehla after killing her husband also shot herself. According to the police, she sustained minor injuries and was under treatment at Jinnah Hospital Lahore.
Police further said the woman is now in their custody as the brother of Shahid Hafeez has filed a case against the accused woman. The incidents of gun attacks are on the rise in the provincial capital of Lahore.
On July 31, a former additional controller of Punjab University was shot dead in Lahore. Professor Ahmed Ali Chattha was traveling to a dairy farm from his house when he was attacked by armed motorcyclists. He was killed with a single bullet.
The Mustafa Town police had begun an investigation and believed the attack might have been the result of personal enmity.
Punjab Inspector General of Police took notice of the attack and directed the district police officer Lahore to submit a report on the incident at the earliest.
