Democracy, freedom and human rights are the three political weapons by which the United States first launches media trial against disobedient countries and then blackmails them. If the United States fails to do so, then it launches a military attack on the country – if it is a global orphanage.
However, if the victim country has support of other global players, then the United States imposes economic and travel sanctions to stop the country’s development journey. In this regard, the United States nominates countries by issuing a report on “human rights” at the beginning of each year. But the fact remains that the United States no longer has the global influence, nor is it an internally stable country.
It is currently the worst country in the world in terms of internal turmoil. Even United States’ parliament is no longer safe from the attacks of political opponents. And the attack was carried out by none other than the US President himself. China, on the other hand, is fast emerging as a new world leader. And now China seems to be breaking its traditional silence.
On March 24, 2021, China released a report entitled “US Human Rights Violations 2020”, which cited US government agencies to report the worst human rights situation in the United States. The report stated the situation in the United States in four key areas: government negligence, political turmoil, racial discrimination, and violations of international treaties.
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc around the world, posing a major threat to human security. The virus respects no borders, nor does the epidemic distinguish between races. To defeat the epidemic requires mutual help, solidarity and cooperation among all countries. However, the United States saw its own epidemic situation go out of control, accompanied by political disorder, inter-ethnic conflicts, and social division.
The United States claimed to be most abundant in medical resources and healthcare capacity, yet its response to the COVID-19 pandemic was chaotic, causing it to lead the world in the numbers of confirmed COVID-19 cases and related deaths. By the end of February 2021, the United States accounted for more than a quarter of the world’s confirmed COVID-19 cases and nearly one-fifth of the global deaths.
Instead of taking action, the then US administration focused on controlling the message, and released misleading signals to the public by claiming “the risk of the virus to most Americans was very low,” suggesting that the coronavirus is no worse than the common flu.
National leaders ignored warnings from experts and downplayed the seriousness of the pandemic. According to the timeline of COVID-19 pandemic in the United States released by media outlets including The New York Times and The Washington Post, the Trump administration had repeatedly ignored alarms regarding the risks of the pandemic.
When experts were constantly saying that masks should be made mandatory in public places, the American president and his advisers were violating it. Despite one ludicrous idea after another, Trump refused to admit any fault. Instead, the leader invented all sorts of excuses to gloss over his mistakes while shirking from responsibilities. For one, Trump insisted that the U.S. leads the world in COVID-19 cases because it tested more than any other country in the world.
On March 23 and April 20, 2020, Dan Patrick, the lieutenant governor of Texas, told Fox News that he would rather die than see public health measures damage the U.S. economy and there are more important things than living. As a result of the government’s negligence, millions of Americans lost their health insurance this year.
All these things happened because the US government has been so reckless in dealing with the deadly pandemic. This negligence is also a serious violation of human rights? (To Be Continued)
