In the petition, filed by the Judicial Activism Panel, it has been argued that the petroleum prices have decreased in the international market but it was different in Pakistan, adding that it was an act of exploitation and the federal government has increased suffering of the people instead of providing relief.
It may be recalled that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar popped up on national mainstream media Sunday morning and announced an increase of up to Rs.35 per liter in prices of petrol and diesel, effective immediately, in what seemed to be Pakistan’s surrender to meet IMF condition, for revival of much-needed loan program stalled since last September.
