LSA is considered one of the most recognised events in Pakistan. However, this year, something strange happened as the awards events did not mention the country’s biggest blockbuster ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ in its nomination list.
Soon after LSA dropped its list of nomination categories, many social media users noticed that the movie which was released after four years of delay was not included in any of its categories.
In this regard, Journalist Hassan Kazmi spoke to producer Ammara Hikmat who shared that though the film was considered for the awards, the team of the film was not sure about submitting their film and they have strong reasons for that. According to Hikmat, the producers did not want to submit their film for an award show where there was such a dearth of categories with the director and writer missing.
Here’s what she said: ‘While we are honoured that Lux considered our film for their nominations, we find that their limited range of film categories doesn’t align with our values. The absence of categories for best director or writer, etc, disregarding their major and substantial creative contributions, while including one for best playback song doesn’t resonate with our vision for comprehensive film recognition. Therefore, we’ve decided not to make an exception in this case.’
The movie which became the first Pakistani film ever to earn Rs 2000 crore at the box office, features Fawad Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Humaima Malick and Mahira Khan in the lead cast. The Legend of maula Jatt also made records internationally and people loved it everywhere.
The movie which was released on October 13, is a reboot of the 1979 cult classic “Maula Jatt.” It focuses on the legendary rivalry between local hero Maula Jatt (Fawad Khan) and Noori Natt (Hamza Ali Abbasi), the leader of a brutal gang. Mahira Khan plays Mukkho, a fiery village woman who is Maula Jatt’s romantic interest.
