Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered a reduction of over Rs15 per litre in petroleum product prices.
According to media reports, the prime minister directed a decrease of Rs15.40 per liter for petrol and Rs7.90 per liter for diesel on Friday.
Sources indicate that the Prime Minister has instructed the Ministry of Finance to implement the price cuts.
PM Shehbaz attributed the reduction to the people-friendly policies of the current government, claiming they have resulted in a noticeable decrease in inflation and brought about economic stability in the country.
The Ministry of Finance is expected to issue a notification today detailing the new prices for petroleum products for the next 15 days. It is worth noting that on May 16, the government also reduced petrol prices by over 15 rupees.
Earlier, it was reported that up to Rs5 per litre decrease is expected in the prices of petroleum products. In this context, the PM’s decision is a significant initiative aimed at providing relief to the public facing severe inflation.
